🗣️Having a voice and someone who can understand your needs, who can help you in your native language can make a huge difference for migrants when they start from scratch in their new communities. This voice and source of information is represented by community interpreters, who themselves come from migrant communities, and now use their language skills and knowledge to help others. Yet, they are not professional translators. Helping them grow better translating skills but also specific technical vocabulary for example in financial services, can make a huge difference in the lives of the people that rely on their skills.
In PLOUTOS program lead partner Aristotle University created a series of trainings designed to community interpreters, to help grow their interpreting skills and to enhance their financial services’ vocabulary and to have a better understanding of financial concepts. Through PLOUTOS program interpreters from at least 40 interpreters from the 6 countries will be able to offer their services to TCNs who need to communicate with financial bodies and other organizations.
